My personal 'gut' journey started over 10 years ago.
After stress on my body resulted in a few intolerances popping up, I knew something was amiss. But I didn't quite know what, and couldn't get the answers I was looking for. Testing revealed I wasn't infact coeliac, but I knew from the way it made me feel that I 100% had an issue digesting it.
A visit to a gastroenterologist was greatly unhelpful, and was fobbed off as 'just having IBS, and there was nothing they could do' - aside from me avoiding the foods I was reacting to. The issue was, I was starting to react to more and more different things, and I was going to end up really limited in my food options.
I'd already cut out Dairy, Gluten, Eggs, Soy, Oats, and more, but was now reacting to things like Cashews, Coconut and Rosemary too.
It wasn't until I started doing my own research that I realised why.
When your gut is in a state of distress, the 'tight junctions' in your gut wall become lazy (and leaky), allowing partially digested food to 'leak' through the gut lining. This is when your immune system says, "Hold on, wait a minute... I have no idea what this is" - because the food particle is too large for it to deal with, and thus, mounts an immune response against it, attacking it. This leaves you more and more open to developing futher food sensitivities as your immune system is in overdrive, and your inflammations levels high.
So, now that we've got that little scienc-ey bit out of the way...
I decided to complete my own study and qualifications to help others like me - who are stuck and fed up with the answers they've been given so far.
If that sounds like you, I'd love to try help you get some answers and restore the healthy gut function!
